Arteta insists he has “good and open” relationship with Kroenkes
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta hasn’t hidden his belief that the club’s owners will need to invest in the squad, but maintains he has a good relationship with owner Stan Kroenke and Kroenke’s son and Gunners director Josh.
The coach had issued a warning after the midweek victory over Liverpool, asserting that the London club will need to invest in top players to challenge at the business end of the league, but reiterated that he can give the owner a call whenever he wants.
“I speak with them and I have a really, really good and open relationship, that’s why when you mention that I am surprised because I don’t need to do that,” Arteta said ahead of the FA Cup semi-final meeting with Manchester City.
“I can make a phonecall and speak to them and they have been very, very supportive from the first day that I joined the club and they were very much participating in the decision to bring me back here and the same with Raul and Vinai and Edu.
“There are no gaps or friction or anything there.”
Arsenal have been linked with a number of high-profile targets, including Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey and RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano, as they look to return to the top four next season.
Agent of Arsenal target claims “offers have been made”
A number of clubs have put offers on the table for Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, according to the player’s agent.
Arsenal have been long-time admirers of the Hungarian international, who was a regular in this season’s Champions League group stage, but the teenage star has also been attracting the attention of the likes of AC Milan and Napoli.
And agent Matyas Esterhazy has told Nemzeti Sport (via HITC ) that there are “several” offers for the 19-year-old.
“We have time, there is no need to rush.,” the player’s representative explained.
“Seasons in some countries are not even finished. We are seeking the best solution for Dominik. Decision may be taken in the upcoming weeks.”
Szoboszlai has hit double-figures for goals this season, and scored his first senior Hungary goal in a European Championships qualifying defeat to Slovakia.
Lacazette explains why he’s stopped talking to Aubameyang about contract situation
Alexandre Lacazette has stopped asking Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang about his future, but still hopes his team-mate will let him know first when he reaches a decision about it.
Aubameyang’s current Arsenal deal runs out in 2021, and it remains to be seen whether the former Borussia Dortmund man will extend his stay or leave this summer to ensure Arsenal recoup some of what they paid for him in January 2018.
Lacazette, who deputised for the Gabon international during Arsenal’s midweek victory over Liverpool, has revealed he is as eager as anyone to find out what is happening with Aubameyang, but will not constantly pester his colleague about it.
“To be honest, we stopped talking about this [his future] because at the beginning it can be funny but long term you can start to be annoying because you want something that is not maybe the way we’d like and I don’t want to be the guy being a bit annoying [by keep asking the same questions],” Lacazette told beIN Sports, as reported by the Star .
“So we don’t really speak about his future. I’m just going to wait like everyone else. And I just hope he’s going to tell me before the press.”
