If reports in the media are anything to go by then Manchester United are now interested to sign Leicester City star Wilfred Ndidi.
According to Le10Sport, Man Utd have been amazed by the performances of the Nigerian international for several months and could move to sign him in the upcoming transfer window.
The French source have exclusively revealed that the likes of PSG and Real Madrid were liked with the 23-year-old play breaker. However, the French champions would not move for him because they are now focusing on Milinkovic-Savic, Bennacer and Pellegrini.
On the other hand, it is stated that the Los Blancos have made an offer for Camavinga and want to secure his signing before focusing on anyone else. So, for now, the path to Ndidi is clear for the Old Trafford club.
The African star has been impressive for the Foxes this term under the management of former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers.
So far, he has featured in 23 league games, scored 2 goals and also provided an assist.
Leicester have the third best defensive record in the Premier League in the current campaign after runaway leaders Liverpool and Sheffield United and Ndidi has performed well as the team’s main defensive midfielder.
The 34-capped international’s current contract with the 2015-16 PL champions will expire in 2024 and as per a report covered by ESPN last month, the former Genk midfielder is valued at around £45-50million.
At Old Trafford, our first choice play breaker is Nemanja Matic. The Serbian international only started two games in the first half of the PL campaign this term. The former Chelsea man spent his time either on the bench or on the treatment table.
However, he did start in 9 of the last 10 league games for us, mainly because Solskjaer’s first choice CM, Scott McTominay was out injured. In August, Matic will turn 32 and in all fairness, his best days are long gone.
So, the Red Devils do need to sign a strong holding midfield star in the summer and I think Wilfred Ndidi would be a top signing.
