Serbian and Montenegrin basketball coach Dusko Vujosevic has come to the defense of Novak Djokovic and called the world No. 1 the “best thing” his country has right now. Several days ago, 17-time Grand Slam champion Djokovic revealed he was opposed to coronavirus vaccination.
Djokovic received some criticism for his recent comments and even leading Serbian epidemiologist Predrag Kon urged the Serb to avoid questions about coronavirus vaccination. Vujosevic has a rich coaching history as in 2009 he was named the Euroleague Coach of the Year.
“In my opinion, Novak is the best thing Serbia has right now,” Vujosevic told Direktno, as revealed on Telegraf. “This is about a man who is not a doctor of medicine but is a doctor of honor and heroism.
Just look at his move when he gives aid to Bergamo, what it feels like to be noble for the moment and for the act.
“I know that he is very much engaged in exploring a healthy lifestyle and that he is applying it. “I remember when he messaged me the first time I was in the hospital because of kidney problems. He was playing a tournament in Australia, and he was sending me messages suggesting diets that could help me.”
Djokovic, 32, got off to an excellent start to the season as he has won 18 and lost zero matches this year. Djokovic led Serbia to winning the inaugural ATP Cup, before he conquered the Australian Open and Dubai.
The Serb was on the verge of losing to Gael Monfils in the Dubai semifinal but he saved three consecutive match points to steal the win.
