Mayleen Ramey said she called out to the young Prince Louis in Hyde Park before realising who he was – and then saw his royal mum Kate Middleton chasing him on his bikeA woman says she had a day she will “never forget” after bumping into Kate Middleton and her son Prince Louis while out for a walk in the park.
Mayleen Ramey was walking towards the Queen’s Gate entrance to Hyde Park on Wednesday, June 30, on her way to a dance class.
She saw a boy speed past on a bike, and his mother chasing after him as he shouted: “I can’t go slower!”, according to MyLondon.
Ms Ramey called out to greet the child as if he were an ordinary boy in the park.
She then realised he was Prince Louis, fifth in line to the throne – and the mother chasing after him was and the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton.
Ms Ramey posted about the encounter on Twitter, saying she would cherish the moment.
She also joked that she had probably broken royal protocol by calling out to the young Prince.
Ms Ramey said: “Had the most random and epic ‘celeb spotting’ this morning in London. It was a literal run-in as we almost collided.
“It started as a grumpy day. I was stressed and sleep-deprived, grumbling to myself as a dragged my sleepy bum to dance class in Hyde Park.
“As I was approaching the Queen’s Gate entrance, I see a young boy on a bike racing towards me on the sidewalk, while gleefully saying “I can’t go slower!” as his mum chased inches behind.
“As I do when I see all kids, I break into a grin and say a big “Hiiii!” as he zooms by.”
She added: “It takes me about half a second to realise this adorable boy and his mum are faces I’ve seen thousands of times.
“I then notice a breathless, masked man in a suit running after the two, clearly having been outpaced.
“I stop for a second to register this random, magical, royal moment…as I’ve just had an almost literal run-in with HRH Duchess Kate Middleton and Prince George! On a sidewalk! In the middle of London!!
“I then immediately gasp in horror as I realise I’ve probably broken all Royal protocol by yelling out “Hiii” to the third in line to the throne.”
She ends her post by saying: “I walk away, elated and embarrassed. What started as a [bad] day turned into one I’ll never forget. Thank you @KensingtonRoyal.”
