Maria Sharapova reveals her favorite fast food and post-workout snack

Published

on

We all know that Maria Sharapova revolves around the idea of eating healthy despite her occasional sweet cravings. Nevertheless, she is not totally strange about fast food either since she unveiled in a Q&A session on Instagram what is her go-to fast-food when she feels like cheating her diet.

Q: What fast food would you eat if you had to?
Sharapova: Spicy chicken sandwich.

A spicy chicken sandwich is a common choice among fast-food clients. Still, Sharapova’s choice is quite predictable if we come to think about it.
Chicken has more proteins and less fat than other processed meals on the fast-food menus.

But besides revealing her go-to choice when picking fast food, Maria Sharapova was asked about her preferred post-workout snack.

Sharapova didn’t give a complete answer as she only told the curious fan what she ate on the day of the Q&A session. “Today, it was an avocado. But I only had 10 minutes before a conference call”. Presumably, the former world number one keeps it healthy with her post-workout snacks while also making sure she replenishes a good part of her lost energy.

Avocado is a good choice if that is your objective since it contains good fats and it’s a nutrient dense fruit. To wrap it up, Maria Sharapova takes her diet seriously and whenever she indulges herself with a croissant or even a spicy chicken sandwich, she makes sure she sweats it off in a cardio session.

Maria Sharapova on how tennis laid the foundation for her to become an entrepreneur

Former World No. 1 Maria Sharapova spoke about how her tennis career has helped lay the foundation for her success as an entrepreneur. Speaking at the online webinar, the WSJ Future of Everything Festival, the Russian says, “The relationship-building is one of the most incredible assets that I’ve gained along this journey.

“The relationship aspect has been incredibly valuable, and I continue to do that with the new partnerships I’ve gained and investments that I’ve made at this point in my career. The building of that is so important.

“I’ve grown and I’ve learned, and I’ve really gotten an MBA on the job… I love it. I love the challenge of it. I think there are a lot of elements of my sport that I take into the world of business, and I’m still learning every single day.”

The Russian also spoke about how she always kept interests outside of tennis even as a teenager with an eye on the her post-tennis future – something that also helped her avoid burnout on the court. “I always carry a big-picture frame of mind because when I was growing up and I’d have tough losses, my father would say, ‘It’s not a sprint.

It’s a marathon.’ and although I knew what my life and my schedule would look like in sport, your trajectory is never predicted. “You can work as hard as you can, you can be a very talented athlete, but you take one wrong turn, and you end up at the end of you career.

I know what it’s like to go through those peaks and valleys. “As I was looking to my future and realizing as a female, even though when I was a little girl, I wanted to play this sport for the rest of my life… I realized, probably in my late teens, that there would be other things in my life that I would have an interest in.

“I was always working towards what the future after tennis might look like.” “When I would come off the court, that was the time when I couldn’t commit any more mental or physical effort… for that time after I prioritized that, and gave out all the physical movements and intensity that I could, I was very eager to learn and be curious about other things.

“I didn’t know where it would take me, and I didn’t exactly know what my other passions would be, but it was important to me because it kept my mind fresh when I’d be back on the court. “I think if I spent 24 hours hearing, listening and watching everything about the game, that maybe would’ve put a little more pressure [on me], but because I had other interests and curiosities, I think it really helped me be better focused when I went on the court every single day.”

The Russian also added that she felt her retirement was well timed in hindsight as she would find it difficult to remain motivated during the current shutdown in case she was still competing on the professional tour. Sharapova retired in January this year after winning five Grand Slam singles titles in her career at the age of 32.

“In hindsight, [my retirement] was great timing, because I’d be sitting here saying, ‘When do I train?’, ‘What do I train for?’ There are so many question marks around sport in general.

Serena Williams insists she won’t be a ‘pushy mum’ ahead of daughter’s first tennis lesson

Serena Williams insisted she wasn’t going to be an overprotective tennis mum after dropping her three-year-old daughter off Olympia off for her first lesson.

And she revealed little Olympia’s new instructor had no idea she’d be teaching the offspring of a 23-time Grand Slam singles winner, arguably the greatest women’s player of all time.

Serena shared the milestone moment with fans in a series of Instagram stories.

Sporting a yellow Nike cap, she said: ‘Guys, I signed Olympia up for tennis lessons.

‘Don’t even start with me because I’m not giving her tennis lessons, I signed her up for some. But the lady has no idea that it’s my daughter so we’ll see how that goes.

I’m not a pushy mom but I know how I like technique so I’ll make sure she’s good at teaching Olympia some techniques.’

The four-time Olympic gold medallist made sure her girl had all the best kit ahead of her first foray onto the court, including a tiny Wilson racket to match her mum’s.

Serena, known for her daring, stellar style, chose an adorable matching ensemble for Olympia’s debut.

The outfit seemed to have Olympia’s seal of approval too. A snap posted by her proud mum shows her dancing on the table, tongue-out, in the long-sleeved shirt and skirt in an abstract black-and-white pattern.

Olympia seemed less keen on her mum’s choice of pre-lesson entertainment, as Serena insisted on running over some pro match film before the lesson.

‘See the open stance there?’ Serena explained to the tot. ‘And look at the speed!’

But it seems Olympia finally got her way and convinced her mum to switch to some cartoons.

‘This is the film she wanted to watch,’ explained Serena. ‘That baby not playing tennis Olympia.’

Hard as it might have been for the fiercely competitive athlete, Serena stuck to her word and didn’t linger after leaving Olympia at her lesson.

Wearing a bright pink tank and a grey mask, she said: ‘So she’s at her tennis lesson but I’m going to leave so I’m not distracting. I know how to leave and be.

‘I’m not like an overprotective mum, no matter what [husband] Alexis [Ohanian] says.’
