Arsenal on-loan midfielder Dani Ceballos has tweeted a picture of himself in a Real Betis shirt in front of his television, cheering on his old team, and some Gunners fans have commented on the social media platform.

Last summer, Arsenal brought the 23-year-old to the Emirates Stadium on a season-long loan from Real Madrid for a reported £15million fee (The Sun), and to date, he has made 24 appearances for the Gunners.

Ceballos has been the subject of transfer speculation over the past few months, with Spanish outlet AS, claiming back in April that Arsenal were interested in signing the Spaniard permanently from Real Madrid.

However, Arsenal’s finances, like those of the entire football industry, appear to have been hit hard by the global health crisis, and the £43.5million price tag reported by AS probably wouldn’t be affordable for the Gunners this summer.

Likewise, Ceballos has previously made it clear he wants to succeed at the Bernabeu, recently telling TVE, as quoted by The Mirror: “I am a Real Madrid player, and any player in the world would like to play for Real Madrid. I have a contract with them for three more years and they are the ideal team to succeed.”

The above comments led to criticism by some Arsenal fans, and Ceballos’ latest post on Twitter, donning the shirt of the team he played for between 2011 and 2017 didn’t go down too well amongst some of the Gunners faithful either.
