The 38-year-old Serena Williams can’t wait to get back on the court once the season restarts, with the coronavirus halting the action for more than two months now. On Tuesday, Serena and her sister Venus had a chat on Instagram, speaking about various topics and enjoying time with their fans.
The 23-time said she fees better than ever, using a previous couple of months to recover and give her body necessary rest after numerous injuries in the last couple of years and many tournaments that she had to miss.
Serena is eager to get back on the court and compete again, attempting to win that elusive 24th Major crown that she has been seeking since the Australian Open three years ago following the victory over her sister Venus for her last notable title so far.
Returning after pregnancy in 2018, Williams reached the final at Wimbledon, losing to Angelique Kerber in straight sets and returning into the-30 after kicking off the event ranked 181st. Serena lost early in San Jose and Cincinnati, saving her best tennis for her home Major in New York where she competed for the crown again, winning just six games against Naomi Osaka for another setback at Majors.
Skipping the rest of 2018, Williams played well at Wimbledon, Toronto and New York last year, advancing into three title matches and losing them all to Simona Halep and Bianca Andreescu, staying empty-handed and still looking for that 24th Major crown after the third-round exit at the Australian Open this January.
“I look forward to getting back on the court,” Serena said. “It’s what I do best and I love playing. I felt like my body needed it, even though I didn’t want it; now, I’m feeling better than ever. I’m feeling more relaxed, more fit and now I can go out and play real tennis.”
